GPA Calculator
Add each course, its credit hours, and the grade you earned. The calculator weights each grade by its credits, so a 4-credit course affects your GPA more than a 1-credit course. This is a guide: your school may use a different scale, grade points, or rounding rule.
4.0 scale used here: A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, D+ 1.7, D 1.0, F 0.0. Your school scale may differ.
How to use
- Click Add course for each class you took.
- Enter the course name, credit hours, and letter grade.
- Click Calculate GPA to see your weighted GPA and total credits.
- Compare the result with your school scale before using it on an application.
Frequently asked questions
What is a weighted GPA?
A weighted GPA multiplies each grade point by the course credit hours before averaging, so heavier courses count more than lighter ones.
What does a 4.0 scale mean?
On a common 4.0 scale, A equals 4.0, B equals 3.0, C equals 2.0, and D equals 1.0, with plus and minus grades in between. Some schools differ, so check your school policy.
Why is my GPA different from my transcript?
Differences usually come from a different grade-point table, repeated courses, pass/fail courses, or rounding. Your official transcript is the authoritative record.
Can I calculate a cumulative GPA?
Yes. Add all courses from all terms, or enter your prior total grade points and credits first and then add the new term.
